Cara Cara Mocktail

Gluten-free and Dairy-free.

Cara Cara oranges are available between December and May each year.
The flavor is a balance of sweet, tangy, and tart.
On the outside, it looks like an orange, but on the inside, it looks and smells like a grapfruit!
Such a unique seasonal taste to enjoy!

Prep time: 10 minutes

Difficulty: easy
Makes: 4 servings

INGREDIENTS
2 cara cara oranges

1 lime

2 large sprigs of mint

750ml Sparkling water (one bottle of San Pelligrino) chilled

1 cup of water

1tbsp honey

INSTRUCTIONS

  • to make a quick simple syrup place the water and honey into a small saucepan and simmer for 1 minute then remove from heat to cool while you prepare the rest of the mocktail

  • These measurements are for 4 cute mocktail drinks but you can put this all into a pitcher as well

  • slice off 4 pretty pieces of the orange and lime and set aside

  • juice the remaining portions of the oranges and lime ( you should have about 125 ml of juice)

  • break off a glasses length of mint spring for each glass, give it a few slaps to release the aromatic oils, and place in the glass

  • place one of the orange slices in each glass and one lime wheel on the rim (it helps if you cut the peel to slide onto the rim easier)

  • pour just over 25 ml of the juice into each glass as evenly as possible

  • add 1tbsp of the honey simple syrup to each

  • gently pour in the chilled sparkling water until you have about an inch of space at the top of the glass so there is room for a couple of ice cubes

  • Serve and enjoy!

  • if you are making a pitcher just put all of the equal ingredients in and have fun!
