Apple Cider Vinegar for Skin and Gut Health


There are so many benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (or ACV), but as it is National Cleanse Your Skin Week I'll talk about how it can help you with clearer skin both as a topical and digestive aid!


It has powerful antimicrobial properties that may help ease skin infections and soothe irritation. As a mild acid, ACV may also help restore the natural pH balance of your skin. This helps your skin keep moisture in and irritants out.


Apple Cider Vinegar Facial Wash

ACV is an easy and great way to cleanse the skin of dirt and unwanted bacteria while maintaining the natural, healthy pH of your skin. (It won't however remove makeup that effectively. For that, you should use an oil-based cleanser)

Here is an easy wash for you to try yourself at home. Yes, it will smell like apple cider vinegar but the water dilutes it so much it won't be unpleasant. You can always try adding a drop of lavender oil to it as well!


1/2 cup warm water

1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar


This is perfect for one wash, and I would not recommend making it in advance. Doing so could potentially reduce the good benefits.




Another example of the many benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar is as a digestive aid. ACV is a wonderful thing to have in your fridge (or in your cooler) at the ready in case of any unwanted potential gurgles. Having a shot as little as 1 Tbsp before your may help to aid digestion. By doing so, ACV can help prevent gas and bloating, which are caused by slow digestion. This wonderful tonic is also antimicrobial, helping to kill bacteria in the stomach and intestines. It can be a bit unpleasant to take on its own at first, so you can ease into it by diluting it in 3/4 cup of water as a drink or 1/4 as more of a shot. Give it a try! Your gut will thank you!


By helping your digestive process, it lets your body focus on getting the toxins in your body filtered out of your system and reducing the risk of inflammatory reactions from foods that could possibly cause skin redness or irritations.


Apple cider vinegar is one of my go-to's for these amazing reasons and so much more. It's a powerhouse of goodness!
